For the purpose of minimizing erroneous prescription, prescription-inquiries(P-¥°) issued for erroneous prescription in inpatient at Asan Medical Center were studied from March 1st to May 31st of 1990. In this period, 134 P-¥° were conducted in 89,925 prescriptions of inpatient. Distribution rate of P-¥° based on clinical department were internal medicine 33£¥, neurosurgery 13£¥ and psychiatry 10£¥, respectively. Classification of prescription-inquiries by inquired content were following : confirmation of medication date, confirmation of medication time and uncertainty of drug name were 22. 3£¥, 19.1£¥ and 18.4£¥, respectively. It was investigated that 88£¥ of erroneous prescription has only one prescription error and 8£¥ of that has two sort of it. As classification of P-¥° associated with pharmacological action, cardiovascular drug was 19.6£¥, antimicrovial drug 17.1£¥ and gastrointestinal drug 13.3£¥, respectively. Therefore it is suggested that physicians should be educated continuously about drugs, especially it¢¥s dosage and drug information for cardiovascular drug and antimicrovial drug should be consolidated to medical department.
